2023 Newsletter

As Dale has said, spring seems to be downloading pretty slowly this year.  However, my expectation is that the ice will be off of the lake earlier than usual and so, I am already looking forward to taking the canoe out for a paddle. It has been a very dry winter at the lake with only a couple feet of snow.  If the lack of precipitation continues then we will need to pay close attention to the wildfire conditions at and around the Resort.  Last season there were two wildfires found and contained by firefighters that made me uncomfortable.  Each

2022 Newsletter

The most common thing that I have had people say to me over the winter is that they are looking forward to having a “normal season” at the Resort.  I certainly agree that it is time.  Time for all of this snow to melt, time for the summer to begin, and time for a beachside lemonade.  I can almost taste it already. As announced last spring, a new Picnic Shelter (called the Boat House) has been set up in Moose Park.  It will be painted this summer but it is ready to use and has now been added to the

Tree Day

To all Annual Campers, With the summer coming to an end it is time for each of you to take a good look around your lakelot and see if there are any trees that are in danger of falling and damaging your RV, cabin or other personal items at the lake.  If you see any trees that you are concerned about, then please let me know.  Even if the tree is not actually on your lot, if it is threatening your personal property then it needs to be looked at and maybe added to the list of danger trees.  Our

COVID-19 update

As with many Albertans, I have been actively following the changes to the COVID-19 restrictions.  All of us are watching to see how these changes affect the Resort.  I am sure we are all happy to see that the recently announced increases in restrictions do not limit our ability to enjoy our lakelots any more than those that were already in place. Outdoor living is a way of life at the Resort which makes physical distancing easy to do.  In fact, interacting with friends and family at the lake often naturally leads to being physically distant.  Going for ATV rides,

2021 Newsletter

Hello everyone and welcome to a new season at the Resort.  There are a lot of new families in our community this year.  Together we can all enjoy the summer, Fawcett Lake style.  It is almost time to put the boat in the water, start up the quad, and give the lawn that first mow.  Everyone is looking forward to being outside in the sunshine, breathing the fresh air and listening to the quiet of life at the lake.  The biggest news this year is that we now have a new playground.  Thank you to the Campers Club and everyone

FLR 2021 Clothing Order: Zip-Up Hoodie

Once again, it is time for another order of FLR clothing to stock in the Resort Store.  This doesn’t happen every year, in fact the last time was in 2016.  This time I have found a good price on a Fruit of the Loom zip-up hoodie.  I will be placing a small order to have one or two of each size in the store to sell.  The price is expected to be $30 to $40 each.  There are still some items in the store from last time, but no sweatshirts.  If you would like to pre-order one of these, keep

COVID-19 update

I am sure that you are all following the COVID-19 news closely these days.  Being in the middle of the Winter Storage Period for the 2021 season, there is really little need for an additional update at this time.  However, word of vaccines being administered and a recent slowdown of the spread of the pandemic in Alberta have provided a much needed positive outlook after a less than memorable holiday season.  Many people seem to be using this as an excuse to relax their enforcement of the health restrictions in their lives … especially when they are at the lake.

The Campers Club … and our new playground

Thank you to the 2020 Campers Club for our new playground.  After many years of fundraising and planning and researching and now a summer of surveying, digging, assembling, and pouring concrete … there is finally a playground big enough to accommodate our growing community.  Last weekend, I had the privilege of spreading the word that the playground was open again, and got to witness firsthand the excitement and joyful screeches in the (not always young) children who heard the news.  Later, just listening to the kids playing there again reminded me of why everyone worked so hard to make this

COVID-19 update

June 11, 2020 As the province begins to open access to business and activities, the current COVID-19 restriction status is getting even more difficult to keep up with.  Things are again changing quickly and I am very appreciative of the help I get from Thomas, our Alberta Health Services inspector.  He is always readily available to answer questions and help make sure that we continue to operate the Resort in a safe … and legal manner. The provincial government previously announced a multiple stage process for getting life back to normal.  Stage One was implemented earlier this summer and allowed
