The Campers Club … and our new playground

Thank you to the 2020 Campers Club for our new playground.  After many years of fundraising and planning and researching and now a summer of surveying, digging, assembling, and pouring concrete … there is finally a playground big enough to accommodate our growing community.  Last weekend, I had the privilege of spreading the word that the playground was open again, and got to witness firsthand the excitement and joyful screeches in the (not always young) children who heard the news.  Later, just listening to the kids playing there again reminded me of why everyone worked so hard to make this happen.

A special thank you to Adam for his hands on supervising of the construction, to Jeff for surveying the site and making everything fit safely, and to Rob for his ever present helping hand.  Together, it was their continued efforts that completed this special project once it got started.

Thank you to everyone for donating to and assisting in this endeavor.  Thank you to Darren for finding the equipment and helping us to purchase it, and to Theresa and Patricia for spearheading the fundraising efforts over the years.  There are many, many other volunteers who helped with everything from loading and delivering items to actually assisting in the construction or even just dropping off much needed refreshments to the crew on those hot days.

The playground is open once again.  We still need to clean up the ground under it, and spread new sand, as well as replace the old log picnic tables with something that will be a little more permanent.  The plan is to also establish a second, smaller playground with the old climbing set, somewhere that will give it the most use.  There will be a grand reopening of the new playground early in the summer.  Please watch for more information on this event in the spring.

Our Campers Club has made great strides in promoting and strengthening our camping community and in encouraging a healthy and safe camping environment. They do a great job in organizing the many resources we have available to us and in directing them to improve life at the lake.  This year, they have accomplished something big, which will never be forgotten.  I can’t wait until next season to see what they have planned next.  Thank you to our president, Michele for everything she has done to strengthen the Campers Club and to make it into something that could not only complete this wonderful project, but will be able to support our community for years to come.
